Small Business Goes for Competitive Edge

Carol Cunningham with PTAC has been invaluable in providing technical assistance … and has been wonderful to work with,” says Dale Iseman, chief executive officer of High Sierra Enterprise, Inc. A licensed general contractor in Lake County, Dale has worked in the construction industry since 1968, specializing in Victorian Restoration. Since 1995, Dale also has been involved in wild land fire suppression and disaster relief. He has operated water tenders at major fires in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and the Dakotas and also was dispatched to assist in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Over the years, Carol Cunningham at the Ronan PTAC office has helped the Isemans with many requirements and processes related to government contracting. For example, she advised them to obtain HUBZone certification for High Sierra Enterprise and assisted them with the application process. “HUBZone certification can offer a competitive edge to small businesses competing for federal contracts,” Carol says. She has assisted the Isemans on a personal basis and in workshop settings as well. Carol frequently offers training opportunities to businesses on topics such as obtaining small business certifications and marketing and selling to government agencies.
